Hat no. 211 is a super lightweight 5 panel hat with a full length brim.

Most of this hat is made from upcycled fabrics .

The brim and the left side panel used to be cotton table napkins,  while the other side panel comes from an altering job I did on a bunch of cotton chef trousers.

Very light and breathable microfiber in the top panels is ex 2 pairs of hiking pants. And then there is the batik …..

The purple fern batik on the front panel also features on the underside of the brim , and trims the inside of the crown. The pattern is called Jade Garden Packed Ferns.  It’s a limited edition from the 2023 collection of Wilmington Prints , artisan designed and hand printed in Indonesia.  The traditional process of waxing , dyeing and curing creates a special richness to the woven cotton.  Every little scrap is a celebration of joyous color. And when you put it on your head , the joy leaks out and soaks in !

With regards to the sweatbands , I  always make my own.  Because when you think about it, the sweatband is the only part of the hat that actually comes in contact with your head . Therefore I always strive to achieve a sweatband which gives maximum comfort .  The band on this hat is made from a peached denim mélange cotton which sandwiches an ultra thin layer of high density foam. The result is a band which feels soft and comfy no matter how tight you sinch it.  And because it’s cotton it always stays cool . You could call it a No Sweat sweatband!

Hat no 211 is size L/XL .  To be precise, it measures 59 cm (23.2 inches), with the adjustable Velcro closure giving +/- 3cm  of adjustment.

The peak measures 7.5 cm , or 3  inches , and it’s made of bendable, unbreakable plastic.

Ventilation includes 2 brass air vents in each side panel .

There’s a Sleepy Dog leather badge embroidered on the back quarter. And inside the band , you’ll find the embroidered serial number , 211, which proves this is,  indeed , a 1 of a Kind, completely unique,  Sleepy Dog Original Hat !
